Everyone runs into days from hell. I have not written in the past two weeks. Everything went wrong, including my not writing. Our daughter was t-boned and though not hurt, the car was totaled. She lives with her fiance in Calgary, Alberta Canada. We live in the Detroit Metro area.
Our son had to find a room to rent in a relatively inexpensive and safe place in Los Angeles. We were on a frantic search via internet to find such a place. We did not know that people scam such young men as our son by advertising a place on line that is like a palace. They ask for a deposit down to “hold” the place. They get all the information they need to do bad things, plus the deposit.
He did find a place! But, it took its toll on me. I developed a chronic headache from worry. He lives in Los Angeles, California and we live in the Detroit Metro area.
Then my husband’s father, 91, HATED his assisted living place in Columbia, South Carolina. The care was substandard for his needs. He called and called and called for help. He is now relocated in my husband’s brother’s house. My sister-in-law and her all grown up daughter are taking great care of him. They live in Columbia, South Carolina and we live in the Detroit Metro area.
My husband, newly retired, handles these things better than I do. He is a new recruit, I might add. I dragged my sorry ass around for a few days. I was depressed. I am never depressed unless I am at a funeral. I also had to deal with a sudden power failure that knocked us offline. There was a “mechanical failure.” When too many things go awry my husband and I handle this by taking pot shots at each other. So that is how two weeks went. I cannot complain…there are much bigger loads on people’s backs that make my issues look paltry in comparison.
I wore the same clothes for days. I buried my head in pillows. I slammed doors. I yelled in the garage, and neighbors were thinking about calling the police. My husband did not like the “new” me at all. Our kids do love the help that we give them from thousands of miles away.
We live in the Detroit Metro area and I did not sleep well because I thought we should be in two countries and two states at the same time. After our panic, though, everyone is happy that we live this far away from them.
